The Want For More Money

Prosperity means wealth, success, riches, the good life, comfort, security, well-being, full life. Then why is wanting an abundance of money looked upon as selfish and evil?

All money is… is an exchange of services, or goods. We trade our energy, for the value of something else. We use it to get what we want. It reflects what we value most.

Money is neutral. How we feel about it, affects our abundance of it in our life.

I recently stumbled upon a blog written by The Female Money Doctor, titled The 10 limiting blocks that are keeping you broke. By blocks, I mean mindset blocks. Your filter, that we talked about in the last episode, has formed perceptions about money that started in childhood.

  1. Money is the root of all evil. NO…evil is the root of all evil If you are a bad person, money just enables you to achieve bad things, or do more evil in the world. It’s not the money…it’s the person holding the money. Quit blaming objects, that have no life in them. They are unable to cause anything.
  2. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. This is just an excuse to not even try. You do not need money to achieve more money. Money is infinite, and not limited.
  3. It’s selfish to want more money. What is selfish about wanting a more comfortable lifestyle for yourself. What is selfish about wanting to easily pay your debt, and have some fun money left over every month. You work hard. Don’t you deserve some reward in life for all that you do?
  4. I’m not good with money. Well nobody in life is born with financial skills. It is learned. But you have to have money in order to learn how to save and spend it…right. Quit sabotaging your dreams and cutting yourself down.
  5. My family has never been rich. What, just because your family has a history of never having ample money, you aren’t able to? You can’t rewrite history? There are lots and lots of rags to riches stories out there from current billionaires around the world.
  6. If I’m wealthy, I won’t be truly happy. This is what all the giving, selfless, volunteering people tell themselves. The minimalists. But just think of all the giving and selfless good you can do in the world with money.
  7. I can either make money, or do what I love…I can’t do both. WRONG. I know plenty of people that turned their passion into a money making success. There are also people doing side gigs, that maybe they aren’t passionate about, but the income allows them to do the things they are passionate about. I know very successful influencers on social media that have written several books, that started out selling a product, and were able to make enough residual income every month, that they could afford to do the other things they were passionate about. The secret here is to just do something! Money can come from many avenues. You don’t need to pick just one.
  8. Money is there to spend. In other words I’ll spend more than I’ll save. Wrong again…the average person spends more than they make. And they save more than they spend if they are making large amounts of money. They can’t spend it fast enough.
  9. You have to work really hard to make money.. Who wants to work long hours and invest all their time into making money…ummm I don’t. I know a lot of people that work their asses off, and still don’t have enough money at the end of every month. How about that? Being poor isn’t easy either. Struggling to come up with money for bills, car repairs, health insurance, Special occasions, is hard exhausting work too.

Lets put some of that same effort you do in juggling the money you do have playing Russian roulette with the bills every month, into your game plan for your future. Sit down and think about what you are good at, and what you can offer others. We are not all just meant to work our shifts for 30 years and be satisfied with a 2% pay raise every year. You are making someone else money, so why can’t you make it for yourself?

  1. Money is not that important. Ok…I agree. There are more important things in life than money. Your health. Your family. But they are important because they add value to your life. If you think about all the value that money would bring to your family, friends, charities, your piece of mind, enabling you to do the things you’ve always wanted to do. How is that not important in life? If I have more money, I don’t have to worry about poor medical care if I’m sick, or not being able to afford prescriptions one day if I need them. How is this not important? If I have more money I won’t have to worry about running out of my retirement money when I’m older. I can leave something for my children one day.

These are just some examples of how we can think negatively about having more money. I remember growing up hearing “having enough money to pay the bills and buy groceries, but anything more is just for showing off.” Just because someone else has more money than I do, is not a reason to feel jealousy and resentment. That’s just something you bring on by your own limiting thoughts. That’s just shaming someone else for having good fortune. Quit finger pointing.

Money was created, because it was found useful. For centuries, we have always given something, for something else in return.

Money is solely for us here on earth. It cannot promise happiness. It cannot promise good health. It cannot promise us everlasting life. But we can do so much good with it.

You have to address your beliefs on money. You need to write down everything that comes to mind when you think of money. Then you have to visualize yourself having extra money. Close your eyes and actually visualize yourself doing the things you’ve always dreamed of doing. Who are you helping? What are you building? Where are you travelling? Feel yourself experiencing how it would feel to not have to worry about paying those bills every month. How your savings account will grow.

You either believe that things are scarce and limited. Or you can believe that there is an abundance of whatever your heart desires. Do you want a limited life? Or are you going to strive for an abundant life? What is important to you. And forget about all the lies you have been brainwashed into believing about money.

It in reality does make the world keep turning round. Without money, everything would just shut completely down. It is a powerful tool in life. Do not take it for granted. And start believing it is meant for you too.

I'm glad you stopped in to check it out! My purpose in creating this blog, is to give insight into how a positive outlook can overpower a negative life. It all starts with self-respect. I'm angry at myself for wasting so many years on things that weren't important in the end. Forgive yourself for doubting yourself. Work your mind. The mind gives power to the body. My hope is to help someone to believe in themselves again.
