KARMA

The definition of karma is: The sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in the future existences.

Informal version: destiny, or fate, following as effect from cause

In other words, what we do, and how we act in this world, and or previous world, decides our destiny, or fate.

I for one, do not believe in karma. I believe no matter how good you are, bad things are still going to happen. It’s called life.

Look at Jesus, for instance. Born without sin. Spent his whole life poor, and penniless. Travelling the land performing miracles, and teaching the word of god. What was his fate? It’s somewhat comforting, I guess, to think that a person’s behavior, or actions are punished on this earth, or rewarded on this earth by karma.

But then again, when we sit back and silently wait, or wish malice on someone…a.k.a. revenge…aka Karma, are we behaving badly? Hence the expression “you’ll get what’s coming to you!”

I do believe that hard work and dedication do give back. I believe that when we do something for someone else, it’s a gift, and we shouldn’t expect any earthly payment in return.

We are going to be judged at the end of our life. What we do on this earth will be noted, and remembered by God, and only God. We as people, have no earthly right to judge anybody, by our perceptions of what is right and wrong.

Whilst we see a person’s physical action, we cannot see what is in their heart, while performing said action. A good example might be a certain clergyman, or person that you know of that is always in church sitting in the front row, praying and singing the loudest of everyone…but secretly is embezzling from a company, or watching child porn while at home.

We don’t know who a person really is. We can’t see their true heart, or intentions.  Another example could be that mean old cuss you know, who is constantly in a bad mood whenever we talk to them, but they secretly donate to a children’s hospital every month.  We do not know! Nor is it our job to know! Mind your own life and quit worrying about everyone else’s fate.

Not everyone who breaks the law, or sins, may be sent to “hell”. Not everyone who does good deeds, will be sent to “heaven”. We cannot see someone’s true intentions. We are unable, because we are not God. Therefore, we shouldn’t decide someone’s fate. We shouldn’t wish someone ill, because we see them as evil, or wrongdoing. The time we waste worrying about everyone else could be used to improve our own selves.

It hard for some, because they were raised raised to think that no matter how good you are, you are still a sinner, and you will be punished anyway. They go through life never truly seeing themselves as “good” people.

For example, the Catholic religion for the longest time used a term “Limbo”. A place, not quite as nice as Heaven, where infants and children go when they die if they are not baptized. For years I have doubted the Catholic religion for believing in Limbo. It just didn’t make sense how an innocent child is born sinful and not worthy of heaven, even though they have not committed any earthly sin.

Since then, the Catholic faith has eliminated Limbo. See how things evolve?

I strongly believe in a higher being. I believe him to be greater in every way and everything that we know on this earth. I believe him to be fair and just. I also believe him to be forgiving.

But he gave us free will. He promised us that he would not interfere with our lives, unless we asked, or prayed.

Bad things happen to teach us. Bad things happen to make us stop and take heed. We need to be shocked sometimes, before we pay attention. Just because someone experienced a horrible situation, does not mean they did something to bring that on. I don’t believe that. Our life is full of things we cannot explain.

There are millions of miracles happening all around us, that sometimes we don’t even notice, unless they are happening to us.

I choose to live in a world, where I can perform what I feel is good and helpful to those around me. I want to see my life as a positive influence for someone who maybe has given up hope. Someone who needs a pep talk. Someone who needs a pat on the back. Someone who needs an ear, or just to listen to them.

We need to be an example to those who have given up hope. Not wish bad things on them, because we have given up on them. Not everyone will be your friend. Not every partner will be the one you marry and spend the rest of your life with. Not every family member will be nurturing and loving. Not every job you do will be fulfilling. It is our job to learn from the heartache and move on.

To use our experience to better ourselves, and perhaps help someone else through something similar. That is our payback. To help others. To show love towards another. To sleep at night with a clear consciousness, in knowing that we are doing the best we can do on this earth.

We can’t see our future, but we remember our past. We can choose to go back in time and relive every horrible thing that has ever happened to us, and hope Karma shows up for a little “payback”.

Or we can walk into our future without looking over our shoulder worrying about someone’s fate, and just wash your hands of it. Leave it to God.  I choose the latter.

I'm glad you stopped in to check it out! My purpose in creating this blog, is to give insight into how a positive outlook can overpower a negative life. It all starts with self-respect. I'm angry at myself for wasting so many years on things that weren't important in the end. Forgive yourself for doubting yourself. Work your mind. The mind gives power to the body. My hope is to help someone to believe in themselves again.
