The Wish List

What is your wish list for yourself? What is constantly knocking at your door, waiting for you answer? I have several wishes.

To successfully earn my own money while working for myself.

To travel to another country.

To purchase my own home.

To weed out everything in my life that is not serving me.

Have I accomplished any of them as of yet? Well, no.

I am 56 years old, and I am still working toward my goals, or wishes, diligently every day. It may not happen this year or the next, but if I keep at it, I know that one by one, I will be able to cross each one off my list.

That’s what you do. You put in the work. You make it happen. You don’t sit around wishing things were different and expect to have it handed to you. You have to go out and get it.

Every failure. Every wrong turn. Every mistake you make is a small success story. Without all of our shortcomings we wouldn’t learn a different way of doing things.

The trouble with human nature, is that we want everything right now. We want that excellent job now. We want our dream home now. We want our soulmate now. We want success now.

We make hasty decisions trying to grab onto instant results. We want to skip over the heartbreak and mistakes, and head right for the finish line. If we continue to find a fast result, we will never get what we truly wish for in life. We will miss out on all the great, and not so great experiences. Sometimes we even change direction altogether and end up not wanting what we thought we wanted in the first place. The quote “Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers” is right on!

What if you had instantly gotten everything you ever wished for in this life? You have to admit…that would have been horrible! All the lovers. All the jobs. All the friends. All the things that no way in hell you ever wanted, looking back now.

There is a reason for waiting. When we embrace the time in-between, we have a better understanding of why. Time heals. Time perfects. Time changes. Time gives. Time takes away. But in the end, time is what we all need in our life. Time to get to where we want to go.

A wish is the first step. Taking action is the second. And time is the third. The hardest part of all.

Allow yourself the wait. It’s a gift. That if done correctly, will give you what you always wanted in the end.

I'm glad you stopped in to check it out! My purpose in creating this blog, is to give insight into how a positive outlook can overpower a negative life. It all starts with self-respect. I'm angry at myself for wasting so many years on things that weren't important in the end. Forgive yourself for doubting yourself. Work your mind. The mind gives power to the body. My hope is to help someone to believe in themselves again.
