The number one rule when deciding to stay with the narcissist is to expect the unexpected without expecting too much. It’s a rule you need to live by. Because the more you expect out of that person, the more you will be disappointed in the end. Stop breaking your own heart with visions of them becoming the person that you always hoped they would be. Because it’s never going to happen. You need to start relying on close friends, family, and, above all else, yourself.
